Overview

Search any video inside a playlist, even one with hundreds of items.

YouTube doesn't let you search within a playlist, which turns finding one specific video into a tedious scroll. I designed a search bar that drops right into the playlist page and filters it as you type, by video title or channel, so you land on what you want in seconds instead of minutes. It's a small feature, but it fixes a daily annoyance for anyone who actually lives in their playlists.

We led the end-to-end design of a cohesive hardware-integrated ecosystem from scratch, focusing on democratizing home automation for mass-market users.

Process: building it

My first project in Cursor, shipped to solve a real problem.

This was my first time building with Cursor, an AI code editor, and it let me close the gap between a design idea and working code fast. I used it to write the logic that detects a YouTube playlist page and injects my custom search bar straight into the DOM. The point wasn't the tech for its own sake, it was learning a new workflow quickly to solve a UX problem I actually had.

We led the end-to-end design of a cohesive hardware-integrated ecosystem from scratch, focusing on democratizing home automation for mass-market users.

Reflection

Day one with AI tools, and I built something I still use.

It was literally my first day using Cursor, and what stuck with me was how quickly I could turn a frustration into a working product. Building something to fix a problem I genuinely had, instead of a hypothetical one, made it satisfying in a way assignments rarely are, and I'm sure plenty of other people hit the same wall I did. I haven't put it on the extension store yet because of the paperwork involved, but I've been using it myself ever since.
